The procedure and conditions of citizens' access to the funds of the the State Central Museum of contemporary History of Russia and its branches 

Citizens' access to the funds of the The State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia and its branches is given only upon a preliminary written request, composed in any form. The request must specify:

• full name of the applicant;
• the purpose of visiting the collections and using museum objects and their images;
• deadlines of the work;
• contact information.

Letters with requests are accepted at museum@sovrhistory.ru. The review period is ten working days. Upon expiration of the specified period, the applicant receives a written or oral notification of the possibility of visiting the funds. When visiting the foundations, the applicant fills out a researcher's questionnaire.

Restrictions on the access of citizens to museum objects stored in the funds of the The State Central Museum of contemporary History of Russia and its branches are made on the following grounds:

• unsatisfactory state of preservation of museum objects and museum collections;
• production of restoration works;
• presence of a museum item or a museum collection in the museum's storage (depository);
• presence of a museum object or museum collection on temporary (permanent) display in other organizations;
• other reasons provided by the law of the Russian Federation.

Access to items located in the storages of the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia and its branches in temporary use is possible only with the permission of the owners of these items.

Procedure of granting non-exclusive right to publish museum items

The non–exclusive right to publish museum items is granted to applicants in a contractual manner only upon a preliminary written request made in any form. The request must specify:

• full name of the applicant;
• the purpose of visiting the collections and using museum objects and their images;
• deadlines of the work;
• contact information.

When publishing museum items, a reference to the ownership of the items of the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia and its branches is mandatory.

The right of the first publication of museum objects and museum collections held in the funds of the State Central Museum of contemporary History of Russia and its branches belong to the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia and its branches.

When using images of objects published by the State Central Museum of contemporary History of Russia and its branches on the Internet, a link to the ownership of objects and images of the State Central Museum of contemporary History of Russia its branches is mandatory.

Special conditions

For individuals and legal entities, the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia and its branches do not perform a material assessment of objects and do not conduct their historical, cultural, artistic, scientific and other expertise. The exception is the museums of the Russian Federation.

The production of graphic, printed, souvenir and other replicated products and consumer goods using images of museum objects and museum collections, buildings of the the State Central Museum of contemporary History of Russia and its branches, objects located on the territories of the the State Central Museum of contemporary History of Russia and its branches, as well as using their names and symbols, must be performed with the permission of the museum directorate upon prior written request.
