The exhibition let us look through the history of XX century from the prism of changeful fashion. From the First World War throw the revolution, Second World War and modern times the change of epochs and traditions have influencing the fashion. These changes we can trace by the costumes of historical figures and clothes for everyday wear from the collection of the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia.
The exhibition shows how the length of a skirt became shorter during the century. The visitors will see how has change a wedding fashion by the wedding gears of bride and groom a century ego. The costumes of Sergo Orzhonikidze and Rosalia Zemlyachka let us trace a trends in changing revolutionary stylistics.
A lot of exhibits are belongings of Aleksandra Kolontaj who was the first female ambassador in history. She was not only a defender of women's rights but also a women of fashion. There are her dresses of velvet, velveteen, satin and stylish hats and little shoes.
The ballet shoes of ballet dancer Ol'ga Lepeshinskaya, the costumes of the members of the group "Na-na" and matryoshka dolls with their image, the belongings of rock musician Aleksandr Sklyar tell us about fashion in artistic environment. The costumes with symbols of Olympic games in Moscow (1980) and Sochi (2014), the sportswear’s of Russian Olimpic teams and dress of figure skater Irina Rodnina show us a fashion in sport.
There are not only clothing items in the exhibition. You can see a posters, a painting, a sculpture, a porcelain, a ware which instantiate the influence of turbulent events of XX century on an everyday life.
