Postcards with city views appeared in Russia at the very end of the 19th century and quickly gained popularity. The documentary nature of the postcards, the variety of their subjects, combined with the high quality of the image, made the postcards the most interesting document of the era.

The exhibition presents postcards from Moscow publishing firms operating at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries: Scherer, Nabgolts and Co, P. von Girgenson and I. Ye. Selin publishing houses, as well as the Swedish joint-stock company Granberg, which worked for the Russian market.

Visitors to the exhibition will have a fascinating, albeit a little sad, journey through Moscow at the beginning of the last century - after all, it will be a meeting not only with architectural monuments that have survived to this day, but also with those that have disappeared into oblivion.

The historical appearance of Moscow has been preserved on old postcards, photographs, and drawings. They allow you to see the past and feel what it says to our hearts and imaginations.

The special Moscow way of life, street color, traditions and customs created an amazing world of everyday life. Take a look at the appearance of Moscow at the beginning of the XX century - this is our history, our culture, our past.
